A Word from DistinXion

Weekly Devotional

“According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of ones faith; if service, in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.” - Romans 12:6-8
We are responsible for using the gifts we have been given. Use them to bring good in the world. It is our responsibility. Think about the responsibilities you currently have, if you are responsible with your current roles and tasks then you will most likely be granted the responsibility you want when you get older. You will also be put into a place to do what God wants you to do.

Question 1

What role do you currently have on your team? Are you utilizing your gifts?

Question 2

What do you think it means to "play with purpose?" What about "live with purpose?"

Up Three - To Foul or Not to Foul

Article from Bill Fenlon, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Depauw University - Greencastle, IN Outs

Since second-guessing has recently displaced baseball as America’s favorite pastime, it is more important than ever to be certain about the choices you make from the bench. Some choices are automatic, you don’t let bad shooters shoot 3’s, you keep the ball in the hands of good free throw shooters when you are leading at the end of the game, you sit a player down who is in foul trouble, etc. Others may present themselves only a few times a season, but to be sure almost every decision we are faced with on the bench involves probability. Your team is up 3 points, less than 10 seconds to play, your opponent has the basketball: what do you do? CLICK HERE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE ARTICLE.

Message from Coach Thompson

Play the Man

“A few weeks ago while driving home from practice I was listening to Christian radio and an interview with Mark Batterson was playing.  He was discussing a new book that he had written called, “Play the Man”.  After hearing the interview I had to check it out.  After listening to the first few chapters on audiobook on my drive I want to recommend it to everyone who reads this newsletter.  While it is written and directed toward men, women could take many lessons from this book as well.  It is faith focused mixed with stories from history, which will really get your attention on how to best “play the man” in your lives as coaches, husbands, fathers, and men of faith.

Here is a link to the book’s website and here is the book trailer on YouTube.
