A Word from DistinXion
Team Camp Dates
Coaches,
My name is Sean Schaefer and I am overseeing the DistinXion Team Development Camps for 2018.
I am reaching out today to inform you that registration for DistinXion Team Development Camps is now available! The DistinXion Team Development Camp Xperience is not your typical team camp. Our camp focuses on the fundamental development of both the individual and the team.
I have linked to the Team Development Camp Flyer below. I have also linked to a PDF file of our Registration Form.
As a reminder, both your Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will be attending camp for free. You also have the opportunity to run your own concessions if you wish.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or daltonjudd@distinxion.org. From everybody at DistinXion, we thank you for taking on the role of hosting our camp. The use of your facilities is crucial to the enactment of our camps. We appreciate your help!

Thankful Mindset
1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Here are five tips to create a thankful mindset for the Lord. Focusing on these five little things every day can totally change your mindset and negative thought patterns.
1. Thank the Lord in prayer. Tell Him a couple of things you appreciate that He has given you. Remember from Him all is given.
2. Thank you spouse for something they do for you. It is amazing how much of a difference that this can foster in your relationship.
3. Tell an assistant coach something you appreciate that they do for you and/or make your job as the head coach easier.
4. Reach out to one of your players or former players and let them know how important they are to you personally. I’m not talking about telling them how good of a ball handler they are or how glad that you are they made a big shot, but focussing on them as an individual and what they have done for the program - but more importantly how they have made you a better coach.
5. Spend a quick moment and think of someone that God has put in your life and how appreciative that He put them in your life. Maybe this is a mentor. Maybe it is your mom and dad. Tell Him how appreciative that He has placed them in your path.
Spending time in thanksgiving is important. It helps us to shift the focus from negative to positive and prepares us every single day to walk in a thankful mindset for what the Lord has given us.

Against the Wind
READY
I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well-fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me. — Philippians 4:11–13
During the 2003–2004 basketball season, I experienced what coaches fear most. We won only two games while losing twenty-five. Most of our games were not even close. The boys tried hard, but we were overmatched in most games. It was a difficult and humbling time. I questioned myself and my ability. About halfway through the season, as the losses mounted and the frustration and disappointment increased, I came across these verses during a study time. Suddenly, everything came back into focus.SET
As Paul wrote from prison, he expressed that his circumstances had nothing to do with his contentment. It did not matter to him if he had plenty or had nothing. He could be content while in prison or while on the mission field. As I read these lines I substituted my own words. “I know what it is to win games, and I know what it is to lose games. I have learned the secret of contentment in any and every situation, whether winning or losing.” Paul’s secret was his relationship to Jesus Christ. As coaches for Christ we need to remember that the source of our contentment lies not in the victories, but in our relationship with Christ.
GO
1. What is the source of my contentment?
2. Do I “live or die” with every victory or loss?
3. Am I focusing on Jesus Christ or the circumstances of this world?

3. Am I focusing on Jesus Christ or the circumstances of this world?
WORKOUT
Lord, I pray that You will be the source of my contentment. I realize that all of the circumstances of this world, whether positive or negative, are only temporary. The only thing that is lasting is my relationship with You. Teach me to be content in You. Thank You, Lord, for loving me. Amen.
