Good Read
Recently, I committed with my wife, Jayme, to read the husband version of Drawing Closer to God & Your Wife: Husband After God. I want to highly recommend this daily read. The book offers you daily devotional, scripture, prayer, and journal questions that enable you to grow closer to your wife in your marriage. The best part of growing the relationship is putting God at the center of this relationship in all that you do. I pray that you all would give this book a look and spend the ten minutes each morning that it takes to get better in your relationship with your wife. Think of all of the sacrifices that she makes during the season for you - don’t you think that you could give her ten minutes to work on improving your game as a husband?

A Word from DistinXion
Weekly Devotional
“The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the son of God.” - Galatians 2:20You are either considered the example or the exception. You are either living by faith in the son of God, and living a life of high character that is demonstrated through your actions. Or you are the exception, who will speak on his character but his actions do not correlate. As athletes we want to demonstrate our character through our actions, and then follow up with our words. We have been called to be different.
Question 1
Am I the exception or am I the example?
Question 2
Do I practice what I preach to those who follow me?

Is it possible that one man could have changed Mike Tyson’s problem-filled boxing career? Tyson believes his former trainer, mentor, and legal guardian Cus D’Amato, who died before he won the title in 1986, would have changed things. Tyson said, “It would have been totally different. Cus once told me, ‘You’re the kind of person who has to get hurt to learn.’ I didn’t understand he was talking about life…in the fight of life I am a pug, a palooka [a second-rate prizefighter].”
The Apostle Paul became a father figure to a young man named Timothy, whose father was either physically or relationally absent. Through his years at Paul’s side, Timothy became a strong spiritual leader and a great role model for followers of Christ (Php 2:22). Unfortunately, many young people today grow up physically or relationally fatherless in our society. As was the case in my life, this is where coaches can step in and help provide some encouragement and guidance for a young person, but ultimately we all need to experience the love of our heavenly Father to find true significance.
Mike Tyson believes his life and career would have turned out differently had his father figure been around longer. Maybe God will use you to help turn someone else’s life around today. Will you let Him?

2. Is there a “Timothy” in your life who needs the support of a mentor? How can you make a difference in his or her life beyond competition?

WORKOUT
Lord, thank You for being a loving Father to me. I pray that You would continue to teach me to be more like You and help me to be a Christlike influence on those You put in my path. Amen.
